Chiropractic Care
The word chiropractic is derived from the Greek words "cheir" and "pracktikos" meaning "done by hand." Chiropractors perform spinal adjustments to correct misaligned or subluxated vertebrae. Correcting these misalignments can have a beneficial effect on the nervous system and help to relieve pain and restore proper function within the body.
The chiropractic approach to healthcare is holistic, stressing the patient's overall health and wellness. It is a total, preventative approach to health that deals with addressing the cause of the problem rather than just the symptoms. Chiropractic considers all aspects of the patient's life including diet, exercise, lifestyle habits, environmental influences, heredity and physical and emotional stress.
Chiropractic works by restoring the inherent recuperative powers of the body.
- When the nervous system is functioning properly, all the cells, tissues and organs of the body are able to resist illness and disease.
- Abnormal motion or position of spinal bones, known as subluxations, can interfere with the proper functioning of the nervous system and disrupt the transmission of nerve signals.
- Subluxations can be caused by automobile accidents, sports injuries, poor posture or emotional stress, and lead to restrictions in spinal motion, changes in muscle tone, abnormal sensations such as pain, numbness, tingling and burning, inflammation within joints and premature spinal degeneration.
- Chiropractors correct subluxations through spinal adjustments. During an adjustment, the chiropractor delivers a specific and precisely executed force (using his hands) directed to a joint, with the objective to restore normal motion and position.
- Restoring normal motion and position to spinal segments, may lead to improvements in nervous system function and overall health. Studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments trigger the release of natural painkillers in the body known as endorphins which help to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation.

Patient Testimonial
I suffered with brief periods of middle back pain for 4 years and relied upon Tylenol to stop the pain. Then last spring started experiencing periods of lower back pain. The lower back pain became so severe that I was having trouble walking upstairs and completing daily activities. That is when I started Chiropractic care to correct the problem instead of masking the pain with Tylenol.
I experienced noticeable relief from the pain starting with the first visit and adjustment. After 2 weeks, I was no longer experiencing back pain and my back felt so much stronger. I now have been completely free of back pain for three weeks and look forward to continuing therapy to strengthen my back so I can continue to be pain free for life.
